“The Road / The Way / The Trace” which is Kemal Tizgol’s 4th solo exhibition focuses on three phenomena that have an alternate relation between one another. Apart from the dozens of lexical meanings, first of all The Road represents a distance which is already had been travelled or must be travelled with the purpose of reaching a place. Beyond its physical structure, The Road as a distance between two points demands (simple or tough) acts like passing, walking, running, overcoming.
In a sense, The Road is an abstract place that connects homes, cities, countries, people and their living spaces to each other. In this context, acquiring a real “place” identity of the road itself becomes questionable because of its features like; being the network or flowing line of the living spaces. While the distance traveled is called The Road, the line we follow determines our direction. In other words, the location of the place we want to arrive according to the point of departure determines our Way. Finally, the sign that we have left behind this flow is called The Trace.
